Karnak Temple – The Hypostyle Hall

The hypostyle hall at 54,000 square feet (16,4592 meters), with its 134 papyrus columns, is still the largest room of any religious building in the world. The central 12 columns are 69 feet (21 meters) high, with open capitals, while the remaining 122 columns are 49 feet (15 meters) high and have closed capitals. The hall was begun by Amenhotep III, Seti I continued the work and his son, Rameses II completed it.
