Temple of Queen Hatshepsut - Tree Planting
Deir El Bahri - Men carrying a tree with its roots in a wicker pot.
By Mark Millmore.
Hatshepsut sent the army on a peaceful trading expedition to the land of Punt. They returned with many goods together with 31 live frankincense trees, which were planted in baskets for the duration of the voyage. It is thought that Hatshepsut had these trees planted in the courts of her mortuary temple at Deir el Bahari.
